Thank you for joining us today to celebrate Joanie. Thou it is impossible to sum up a person like Joanie in a few minutes, I want to share what made her special to me.

Joanie was one of those people to bring color to your world. She had a gift for making people feel welcome, and for making even the most ordinary day feel much brighter.

We met about five years ago. From that moment, I knew she was someone I wanted in my life. Joanie made me feel welcome, seen, and heard.

When we were unable to find a suitable venue for church services, Joanie lovingly and graciously opened her home to us for that purpose, embodying the concept of "Love reflecting Love," according to Mary Baker Eddy's spiritual interpretation of the Lord's Prayer. That is the kind of loving individual Joanie was. She lived life with passion and kindness, and her example encouraged everyone around her to do the same.

My beloved friend, I thank you for the memories, for the joy you brought to my life. Your friendship was a gift--one I will always carry with me. You showed what it means to be fully present, to find joy, and to love unconditionally. You are now seeing God "face to face" You are at peace in the consciousness of infinite Mind.

Let us honor Joanie by carrying with our hearts and reflecting in our lives her ways

of gentleness and peace. Mahalo nui loa.

A celebration of life for Joan Ohlmacher, arranged by her close friends, was held 2/14/2026 at the Hawaiian Paradise Park Community Center. Pansy's eulogy was one of many presented in Joanie's memory. Joanie served the Christian Science Society of Hilo in many capacities, including president, reader, lecture committee chair, and website developer. While we miss Joanie dearly, we know that she is "about [her] Father's business" (Luke 2:49) in the next world. LIFE IS ETERNAL.
