Infinite, Ever-Present Good

The student of Christian Science undertakes to solve the problem of evil in the same way that a mathematician deals with mistakes in calculation. That is, he understands evil to be simply a mistake; not a mistake of the one infinite or divine Mind [God], which is incapable of making a mistake, but a failure of the so-called moral or human mind to understand and to grasp the real nature of God, good. He corrects the mistake by gaining and applying an understanding of what is right and true. He views the believe in evil as a subtle conspiracy against good, and the conspiracy is dissipated the moment its falsity is laid bare through his understanding of the true nature of good. In other words, he understands evil to be but the seeming absence of good, rather than an intelligent entity or power incapable of dissolution. He reasons thus: Since God is good and ever present, there is no room left for evil to occupy; consequently, evil cannot be considered on a par with good, and must, therefore, be supposititious rather than actual or real. This reduces evil to a purely relative experience, unknown to the consciousness of absolute good or to the real man reflecting this consciousness. When this concept of the mythical nature of evil enters human consciousness, it is the unseen message of Truth which comes with healing in its wings; it is the coming of Christ, Truth, to the individual who is receptive to spiritual truth. This coming of the Christ is no mere theory to be accepted or rejected by mankind, but an actuality, an inevitable, incontrovertible, demonstrable fact; an active, vitalizing prelude to all true spiritual attainment."
